Stephanie Carpenter

Stephanie Carpenter is the author of Missing Persons: Stories, winner of the 2017 Press 53 Award for Short Fiction. Her current project, “Many and Wide Separations: Two Novellas,” explores the lives of professional female artists in mid-nineteenth century New England. In support of this project, Stephanie has received research fellowships from the American Antiquarian Society and the Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library, as well as a Tennessee Williams Scholarship from the Sewanee Writers’ Conference. Stephanie holds an MFA from Syracuse University and a PhD in Creative Writing and literature from the University of Missouri. She teaches at Michigan Tech University.
