Secrets of Music Journalism

Most everyone has seen Almost Famous, but have you ever wondered what it's really like to be a modern day music journalist? In this Q&A session, writer Katie Bain discusses how to pitch stories, how to get published, how to get backstage, how to get rock stars to open up and everything (and anything!) else you've always wanted to know about the thrills and challenges of music-related reporting. Born and raised in Wisconsin, Bain has covered the Los Angeles music scene for more than a decade. She's toured Europe with Hans Zimmer, hung out in Malibu with Lenny Kravitz and covered festivals on three continents. Recent bylines include cover stories for Billboard, Flaunt, LA Weekly and DJ Mag.
