Workshop: Writing The Veteran's Experience

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Everyone has a story to tell, especially veterans.

If you are a former member of the military and want to get your thoughts, experiences and reflections down on paper, this workshop is for you. Your guide is Sandra Shackelford, writer, professional artist, former journalist and oral historian. Along with learning the basics of the creative nonfiction writing process—mining memories, finding your authentic writing voice and sculpting your story/s into form—you will be coming together with like-minded others in an environment that encourages mutual trust and respect. By getting your story "out", you may also be addressing and working to heal the leftover trauma, a byproduct of war.

Bring along a paper and pen. We'll be writing.
